Our Story: A Transformation We Built Together
Our story begins with a clear choice: to respond with responsibility to a reality that could no longer be ignored. That commitment has grown into a Residential Center dedicated to protecting and guiding adolescent mothers and their children.
The beginning
It all started in 2021, when a group of individuals led by Canel Frichet chose to respond with responsibility and commitment to a reality that could no longer be ignored. From that decision, the Casa Sonja Ecovillage for Children and Women Association was born. From the very beginning, it was a shared dream: to provide protection, care, and the restoration of rights to children and women who had experienced situations of vulnerability.
Building the Ecovillage
That dream found fertile ground on a farm in the La Tranquilidad neighborhood, along Ruta del Sol in Cóbano. With the support of national and international donors, what was built there was far more than infrastructure. An eco-village came to life – sustainable spaces, gardens, and farm animals – a place designed for healing, learning, and reconnecting with the essentials of life and nature.
Over time, the experience brought profound learning. In 2025, the Board of Directors recognized that the journey called for evolution: moving from a meaningful initiative to a specialized residential model. A serious and committed dialogue began with the Patronato Nacional de la Infancia (PANI), responding responsibly to an urgent national need.
A new chapter
From this process of reflection, Casa CreSer emerged with the determination to become a specialized residential home for teenage mothers and their children. More than a name change, it was a clear statement of purpose: to walk alongside young mothers through protection, care, education, and the building of achievable life plans.
Today, Casa CreSer is a place where early motherhood does not mark an ending, but a beginning. A space where teenage mothers and their children grow together – transforming stories of vulnerability into paths of resilience, care, and development, in harmony with nature and with the life that continues forward. Here, growth is a shared journey that includes us all.
